Queen Uberta

Queen Uberta is a supporting character of The Swan Princess. She is the former Queen of Chamberg and the wife to King Maximillian. She is also the mother to King Derek and mother-in-law to Queen Odette and adopted grandmother to Princess Alise. She’s also in charge of all of her servants and guards, including her valet, Lord Rogers, and her personal head manservant, Sir Chamberlain.

Biography

Uberta lived a life as a commoner in the Kingdom of Chamberg, married to a man named Maximilian. She was distantly related to the King of Chamberg, who was her grand-uncle through his fourth wife twice removed, although Uberta only met her once, when she was 3 years old, at a food baazar.

The Swan Princess

She and King William made an agreement to unify their land by having Derek and Odette marry each other. Every summer, the king and queen would constantly make arrangements for them to meet, just so the children could get along with each other. When Derek and Odette were young adults, it seems that their efforts were paying off when they shared their first kiss. Their hopes were soon crushed when Odette cancelled everything by rejecting Derek, who had insulted her by saying "What else is there?" When Odette asked him what else. He was only marrying her because of her beauty. At this moment, Queen Uberta shows her disappointment in her son and walks away sobbing.

When the news of William's own assassination and the kidnapping of Odette by Rothbart was announced, Uberta was upset by it. Although she seems to know how to quickly move on because after months of Odette being declared lost, Uberta was quickly looking for Derek's new princess at the grand ball. She invited all the princesses from the neighboring kingdoms. She would constantly bother her son to meet these princesses to get him to move on from Odette, but Derek refused to dance with any of the princesses. But he said that he had found someone to marry. His words were received with loud cheers from his mother, because she thought he would marry a princess. Eventually, when the night arrives, she constantly reminds her son of his promise to her to dance with the princesses. However, she became quiet when the figure of Odette (who was really Bridget) appeared because she thought she was dead. She watched Odette walking down the stairs in disbelief because she had thought that the princess had disappeared. After her son, Derek, made a vow of everlasting love to the fake Odette, her party was ruined by Rothbart, who laughed at the prince for mistakenly declaring his love to the wrong woman, therefore killing the real Odette. In the end, Derek and Odette were finally married. Queen Uberta was happy to see the promise she had made with King William being fulfilled and she was also happy to see her son with the woman he loved.

She assumes that everyone has forgotten her 50th birthday.

Instead of Odette, Uberta who ends up being the damsel, as she ended up being kidnapped by Clavius and spends much the the whole movie imprisoned until the climax.

Appearance

Queen Uberta wears a cream long dress with a collar and long sleeves, with a red maroon dress with short sleeves with a navy blue collar on the front and back.

Trivia

• She serves as the damsel-in-distress in the second film of the franchise for the majority of the movie until the climax.
• According to the Swan Princess Series website, she has an August birthday and is a Leo. She shares this similarity with Clavius.
