Biography[]

Alise's mother died when Alise was a small girl, and her father, a woodcutter, raised her.

The Swan Princess: A Royal Family Tale[]

One night, The Forbidden Arts accidentally crashes into the house of Alise and her father, and burns it down. Her father asks Prince Derek to take care of Alise, and dies from burn wounds.

Odette and Derek decide to take care of Alise until they find other relatives of hers. Alise gets a new home but she is still sad and Odette remembers how she was kidnapped and she remembers how she saw her father dying while she screams at him in her memory. Odette knows what it is like to be without a family. She promises to Alise that she'll always be with her. Later she shows Alise everything around the kingdom and everybody likes Alise. But she won't speak to anyone. One night, a nightmare troubles her and Odette comes to comfort her and she tells her that everything is OK and Odette sings her a lullaby, "Always with You."

The next morning, Alise plays with Bridget. They play hide and seek outside the castle with everyone watching them. Odette and Derek find out that she has no other relatives left and they now want to adopt her as their own daughter which makes Queen Uberta very happy that she now has a granddaughter.

Later she gets kidnapped by flying squirrels known as the Scullions, and Odette and Derek have to follow them to rescue Alise. The Scullions prepare lots of traps because they think Odette is an evil swan princess from the false legend they have been told for centuries. An evil scullion named Mangler takes her to his master, The Forbidden Arts, and he traps her behind bars. When Odette finally sees Alise, she tries to break the prison but she was unable to and she feels disappointed. Then Alise finally speaks, telling Odette to break the crystal to free her. Odette tries to break the crystal but the Forbidden Arts is ready to destroy her. But Scully sacrifices himself and breaks the crystal to save Odette and set Alise free. There is a huge explosion as the crystal breaks. After the explosion, Odette calls for Alise in the hope that she is OK. Alise then calls out to Odette: "Mommy". Full of happiness, Alise and Odette embrace each other.

Alise is presented to the people as the new princess and future queen of Derek and Odette's kingdom.

The Swan Princess: Princess Tomorrow, Pirate Today![]

After becoming the princess, Alise is left at her grandmother Queen Uberta's castle while Odette and Derek help people. Later she, Rogers, Speed and Jean Bob go out sailing but they end up getting shipwrecked on an island populated by carnivorous creatures called Boggs. Alise meets a boy named Lucas who got raft-wrecked there after running away from his parents.

The Swan Princess: Royally Undercover[]

Alise and Lucas team up together on a spy mission to find out what Count Antonio is up to.

The Swan Princess: A Royal MyZtery[]

Alise and Lucas are planting tulips in King Sebastian's garden, until it got marked with a huge Z by the rats of a man in black.

Later, she helps Rogers and Scully put a tracking device on a Bogg Ghost named Hunch. Shortly after she and Lucas are kidnapped and put on a huge scale over a deep pit, their kidnapper, the man in black, turns out to be Nicollo.

The Swan Princess: Kingdom of Music[]

5 years after A Royal MyZtery, Alise has grown up into a beautiful young princess who is 16 years old and during the days of the swan princess music festival, her mother Odette is hosting a competition to celebrate her birthday by making a coming of age ball. 5 members have entered: Humbelani, Isabella, Anya, Samar and Prince Li. The winner will also sing during her first dance. Alise is happy to see Lucas after he went to help teach people to plant flowers. When Prince Li arrives and gives a welcome gift to Odette, she has nothing to give him in return and all she was able to give him was a Cattail and as he inhales the dust, he starts to cough. Li is very offended by this.

When Humbelani starts to make his performance, Alise says to Lucas that everyone can win except Li. Feeling hurt and angry, Li leaves the place. Her grandmother says that she should apologize to Prince Li. So the next morning, Li and Alise meet and when she starts to apologize, he sees her harp and he tells her that he too has something like this in his kingdom. Alise offers him the opportunity to play on her harp and he accepted her offer. But Li remembers that the strings are arranged the opposite way. He asks Alise if she minds if he turns her harp the opposite way and she said: Not at all. So Li plays the harp again and Alise sits near him to listen. He explains that ever since he was a child, his father made him and his twin sister practice every day until Mei Li said it was too hard and she refused to continue. Alise joins Li to play along with him and they both discovered that they have something in common and they play the harp as a harp duet in perfect harmony and they both fall in love. When they finish playing, Li and Alise start all over again: Li introduces himself again and Alise welcomes him, and she stretches her hand and Li kisses her hand as he's been taught, and Alise likes it so much that when some of the groups finish the performance, Li and Alise get to know each other better and they take a walk near the lake to talk about each other. Li never knew his mother. She died when he was very young like Mei Li. Alise says that she too had lost her mother and Li discovers that Alise is the daughter of the Queen and King, Odette and Derek and she wishes to have known her mother and she missed her father every day. Alise is very lucky that her life has been much more kind than cruel to her because her mother and father are so kind and loving. Li says that she deserves her good fortune. Both people were wrong about each other and Li is about to leave and he kisses her hand and says: Goodnight, princess.

Li and Alise go horseback riding and when they wanted to share their first kiss, they are interrupted by Lucas who is very jealous. Alise goes to see him and when he asks her why him, Alise says that it just happened and she did not know what to do. But she leaves him saying: I'm sorry Lucas. Li is the last to sing and he wins the competition as he sings goodbye in Mandarin and Alise runs down the stage to embrace him. Soon the coming of age ball arrives and everyone is excited to hear Li again but when he sees Lucas going away, he asks Queen Uberta to break a tradition just this once that Lucas should dance with Alise. Alise was hesitant at first but she dances with Lucas and Li starts to sing the same song in the English version and he surrenders his love for Alise. After Alise and Lucas kiss, Princess Mei-Li's lover Chen is freed from his dragon curse.

At the end of the movie, Li and Alise see each other once more and Alise and Li say they won't forget each other and they both say goodbye. Near the end of the movie, it can be read: to be continued.

The Swan Princess: A Royal Wedding[]

Alise and Lucas are only mentioned in this film, described as visiting the kingdom of Borromeo for the tulip festival.

She makes a small cameo in a photo in Queen Uberta's scrapbook, which shows her as a child. In the picture, she and Queen Uberta are taking a tour of the castle, and stop by the portrait of King William.

The Swan Princess: A Fairy Tale is Born[]

During Odette and Derek's coronation ceremony, Alise is seen alongside Lucas placing the crown on Odette's head.

Physical Appearance[]

From A Royal Family Tale to A Royal MyZtery, Alise has brown hair, green eyes (sometimes teal, brown, or pale blue), and a very short, thin build.

Her age is never fully specified in the film. It is only implied that she is very young. However, judging by her appearance and behavior, it is easy to assume that she's most likely somewhere between the ages of 8 and 11. According to director Richard Rich, Alise is 16 years old in the ninth film, which takes place 5 years after the previous film.

Wardrobe[]

Alise wears a commoner dress at the beginning of the movie. At bedtime, she wears a magenta nightgown that once belonged to Odette. During most of the movie, she wears a red dress with black shoes. At the end, her hair is now short and she wears a dark blue dress and black shoes.

In the sixth movie, she wears a purple dress and during her journey as an adventurous princess, she wears a pirate costume with a golden earring on her right ear. In the seventh movie, she still wears her red dress and when she and Lucas are on their spy mission, they are wearing black clothes given to them by Lord Rogers. In the eighth movie, Alise again wears her red dress.

In the ninth movie, she is a beautiful teenage girl. She wears a dark pink magenta dress with golden flowers on the two sides of the dress. Her hair is now longer and her hairstyle is in the form of a braid, similar to her mother's during the song "This Is My Idea" from the first movie.

For her birthday party, she wears an elegant white dress with a beautiful pattern with a tiara and she has matching earrings. Her hair is collected in a bun.

Trivia[]

  • "A Pirate Today" is the first song that Alise sings in the Swan Princess films.
  • She is the third character in the series to be kidnapped by an antagonist, the first being Odette by Rothbart (and later Zelda) and the second being Queen Uberta by Clavius.
  • In various screenshots, her eyes change from pale blue to teal to green to brown and vice versa. This is a similar animation error that occurs among various other characters with these eye colors, most notably the scullions.
  • Her hair seems to lengthen and shorten at various points in the film- from chin-length to shoulder-length to almost growing past her back -this could be an implication of time passing (as vaguely suggested in the "We Wanna Hear From You" musical sequence) but it may simply be a sign that her hair is being groomed/cut regularly, which would make the most sense seen as how Queen Uberta clearly enjoys pampering her.
  • Despite the A Royal Family Tale's story revolving around saving her, Alise plays very little role in the film's events.
  • The death of Alise's birth father marks the third time a character was shown dying onscreen. The first two characters dying on screen are King William and Rothbart respectively.
  • Prince Li and Alise love playing the harp which they play as a harp duet.
  • From all the finalists, Li is the only one who spends time with Alise and he is the only one to be in Lord Rogers' secret lair.
  • Alise is the only one to speak about her past to Prince Li about how she had lost her first parents and became a princess.
  • The goodbye of Alise and Prince Li is very similar to Odette and Derek when both of them were both saying goodbye as Odette goes with her father back home.
  • Alise is the second character to be raised by her widowed father (who later dies) and she never got to know her mother. The first character is Odette who was raised by King William who also dies after Rothbart kidnapped her in his great animal form. Prince Li is the third character to be raised by a widowed father in addition to his twin sister, Mei Li.
  • Alise's hairstyle in Kingdom of Music and A Fairy Tale is Born is similar to Odette's when she was a teenage girl playing cards with Derek during the song "This Is My Idea!".

Goofs[]

  • When Alise and Prince Li are sliding down to Lord Rogers' secret lair, her shoes were pink like her dress but when she comes out of the tunnel with Prince Li, her shoes are yellow.
